Just One Word

January 26, 2017

Going to the Carnival at Christmas time was a big thing for us growing up. In my house it was my uncle who dared to take on the challenge of taking us kids out in public! Once the Carnival arrived in town he would come and tell us which day we he was going to carry us. We held on to that word that he was carrying us as if it were life itself. No matter what, we believed that when the day came he would live up to his word and carry us to the carnival. As a matter of fact we started to countdown the days as they drew nearer, waiting on pins and needles.

I am like the childhood me at this moment, waiting with bated breath for His word to come to fruition. I am holding onto His words for dear life because they are life. God’s words are powerful they ignite a fire in you, they give you hope, they uplift and build you up.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not always happy and joyful that I have this word. No, not so! There are days when I feel as if God has forgotten His word to me; it feels as if nothing is changing or will change. On days that I feel like this, here is where I find solace: in the Word of God. Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”

I also think about times in my life when His word did come to pass, times when He was my provider Genesis 22:14, when He healed me Exodus 15:26, or when He gave me peace Judges 6:24.

God has not just given me a word, He has given all of us a word. From the ‘babe’, to the most seasoned believer, we are all in anticipation of His word being completed in and through our lives. Take comfort in knowing that God is a God that brings His word to pass. “For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD. Ezekiel 12:25.
