What a wonderful time of year this is! We, here at The Journey, are blessed to be able to reflect on the last several months and see the marvelous hand of God in our lives and on this ministry.

As we wrap up this calendar year we are already excited about 2019, but for now, we are slowing things down to a brief time of...

“Lift your hands in praise!”

I lifted my hands.

“Shout Hallelujah.”

Well, I didn’t shout, but I said it loudly enough I think.

“Come on and lift your voices!”

I love to sing, so this one is a sure win. I got this!

Sunday morning worship is beautiful, wonderful even, and if you do what others are doing, and follow directions...

Every time I fly, and that's been pretty often lately, I think to myself, "We could like, fall out of the sky!" Now, let me be clear, on this particular day, there is nothing to suggest that any of us felt threatened. A lady to my left spreads a copy of this morning's newspaper over her belly and begins reading. The el...

I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I'd really prefer to reserve that title for the obsessively clean, the compulsively neat, or those who have their clothing color-coded and organized according to the seasons. I am none of those, but what I do, and how I think, are most certainly a version of perfectionism.

I don'...

Thank you for subscribing to the The Journey! I had a vision for this site many years ago, and I am so happy to see it realized. I'm grateful to every writer that makes the time and gives such tremendous effort to telling their stories and lessons of faith and sharing them with our readers. I firmly believe in the powe...

Growing up under the generous wings of my grandmother’s fierce and protective love is one of my childhood treasures.  Here on the island she taught me so many things, like how to catch a bus, 'sweep' the yard, and wash clothes on the scrub board. She also taught me how to call on the name of the Lord, and I mean that l...

I didn’t have an appointment, but asked to see her anyway. I’d arrived early, before the bank opened, hoping to be the first person she met with. Less than an hour later, we sat across from each other, strangers. She was just a contact name on my monthly banking statement, someone I had never met, but there we were, fa...

I’ve run out of things to buy her. It happened about five or six years ago when I bought her a designer bag, and then three months later she brought it back to me, citing the fact that she had no use for it and could not let it ‘go to waste’.

“I don’t need anything,” she says.

Her eyes don’t sparkle at the sight of new j...

April 13, 2017

For most of my life I’ve trudged through Easter. The sermons. The movies. The baskets. All that time I’ve felt guilty…guilty for not experiencing the ‘appropriate emotions’ during this very solemn time of year. The gravitas of it all, Jesus, the Son of God, dying a horrific and gory death, for me! I was distressed that...

The world is changing faster than I can comfortably grow old, and that sometimes freaks me out. I'm riding out the countdown, or should I say the run-up, to my fortieth birthday, or what is commonly called my fortieth Earth Day! I'm excited about it, for no other reason than in this age-obsessed culture, forty is a big...

Who Are We

The Journey is the collaborative effort of Caribbean Christian women who speak and write about faith, spirituality and issues of life and abundant living.

We are motivated to draw women into deeper relationships with God and we are eager to see women connect, inspire and empower each other in the Spirit of love and unity.

Our prayer is that women will become passionate about living free and honest lives through God’s power, mercy and grace.
